TRAUGOTT CUVEE SPARKLING BURGUNDY
WINE STYLE/TASTING NOTES
‘Sparkling Burgundy’ is a style unique to Australia. It has been a favourite wine of ours for many years and hence it was only a matter of time before we made our own. Produced from a blend of Shiraz and Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Clare Valley.
Following maturation in small oak casks, the wines were blended, and underwent secondary fermentation, which has moulded this Cuvee into a wine with a beautiful garnet hue, lovely berry fruit, enhanced by autolysed yeast characters, and a soft velvety palate.
The perfect wine for Sunday brunch or superb with roast pork, turkey, hare, wild duck, or, as an alternate to your favourite sparkling white wine.
This style will bottle age beautifully for many years, due to the Co2 created by secondary fermentation, acting as a natural preservative.

The Loquat Tree
The Loquat tree has been indigenous to the Orient for over 1000 years. The tree bears bunches of bright yellow sweet fruit in December.
It was brought to South Australia last century and was soon planted adjacent to vineyards as a crop indicator for the grapes. (A good crop of Loquats would indicate a good grape harvest and vice versa).
This wine has been named after one such tree which was planted in our vineyard in 1926, and now grows proudly in front of our Cellar Door Sales.
WINE STYLE
Produced from 53% Mourvedre, 35% Grenache and 12% Shiraz. This was a common blend of dry red wines in South Australia in the early years.
It is a fresh youthful wine displaying fleshy ripe fruit characters and a soft alert tannin enhanced by six months maturation in American Oak Barriques.
TASTING NOTES
Medium depth bright purple red in colour. The nose displays ripe fleshy red berry fruit with a subtle vanilla oak background. The palate is clean fresh and alert with rich plumy fruit, exotic spices and a soft tannin finish.
